Add Liposana® to Your Practice
Give patients with plantar fat pad atrophy a structural cushion made from real human tissue. Liposana® is offered exclusively through AIMx Podiatry.
What Is Liposana®?
A human adipose tissue allograft for patients with plantar fat pad atrophy. It supplements thinning padding with real fat tissue.
Real human fat tissue
Liposana® is made from donated human adipose tissue. It keeps the natural structure of fat, including intact, lipid-filled fat cells, so it cushions like the fat pad it supplements.
Regulated as a 361 HCT/P
Regulated by the FDA as a 361 HCT/P for homologous use. Donors are screened and tissue is recovered and processed under FDA and AATB standards.
Placed in office
Placed in the office under local anesthetic in a single visit. No harvesting from the patient is needed.
Native Adipose vs. Other Options
How Liposana® compares with other options patients may already know about.
| Attribute | Liposana® | Synthetic and Dermal Fillers | Steroid Injections |
|---|---|---|---|
| What it is | Human adipose tissue allograft that retains its native tissue structure | Synthetic materials or gels, including silicone and hyaluronic acid | Corticosteroid medications used to reduce inflammation |
| Adds cushioning to the fat pad | Provides natural adipose tissue volume and cushioning | Adds volume but does not replicate native adipose tissue structure | Reduces inflammation but does not restore lost cushioning |
| How it works over time | Supplements existing adipose tissue and gradually remodels and integrates with the patient's own tissue over time | Provides temporary or lasting volume, depending on the material; migration and other complications may occur | Does not replace lost adipose tissue; repeated injections may contribute to fat pad atrophy |
| FDA regulatory status | Regulated as a Section 361 HCT/P for homologous use | Not FDA-approved for restoring plantar fat pad cushioning | FDA-approved medications, but not specifically approved to restore fat pad cushioning |

Diabetic neuropathic patient with a pre-ulcerative plantar lesion from fat pad atrophy. No re-ulceration or adverse events out to 9 months.
Retrospective case series, 9 patients (10 feet) with metatarsalgia from fat pad atrophy, 1.5 mL each. At 12 weeks, 9 of 10 feet gained fat pad thickness on ultrasound (mean 0.21 cm, 65%), and FADI rose from 66.0 to 84.2. No adverse events were reported.
Laboratory and 12 week nude mouse study of tissue structure, immunogenicity, and graft fate. Supports host-mediated tissue replacement as the mechanism behind durable volume.
